What to expect after signing up for Riptide Lacrosse

General Information/FAQ's

Riptide Lacrosse is a travel lacrosse program based in the Winnacunnet High School District and open to any resident of Hampton, North Hampton, Hampton Falls, South Hampton and Seabrook. Our goal is to grow the game of lacrosse through fun instructional practices and competitive game environments.

Who is eligible to participate?

We are open to boys and girls from 1st grade to 8th grade in the Winnacunnent School District

Who will my child play with?

Teams are divided by grade, generally with 2 grades together. 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8. If there are enough kids for 2 teams, the Boy/Girls Coordinators will work to split the teams up. Generally for the younger kids we split by grade, or make even teams. For the older kids we are more likely to split based upon ability. These decisions will be made after registration to ensure the best possible environment for all kids. Sometimes grades will be transposed into different formats for the league divisions. 1/2 = U8, 3/4 = U10, 5/6 = U12, 7/8 = U14

Where will my games be?

The Riptide teams play in 2 different leagues. The Seacoast Area Youth Lacrosse League (SAYLL) league is for our kids in grades 1-4 and features small sided games in the seacoast area. For the kids in grades 5-8 we will be playing in the New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse League (NHYLA). This league features teams from all over New Hampshire, so away games could be as far as Nashua, Plymouth, or Hanover.

When does the season start?

The season will generally start with some indoor practices in the middle of March. The exact timing for each team will come out at the end of February. With living in New Hampshire, the weather at this time is difficult to predict, and we have found practicing indoors the 1st 2 weeks gives the kids a great head start heading into outdoor season. Outdoor practices will start the 1st week of April (weather and field dependent) and games will begin April 5th (SAYLL) and 6th (NHYLA)

When will I practice and play games?

Practices will start indoors in mid-March, and outdoors in early April. This is always a big challenge with field space and conditions. Coaches will let parents and kids know as soon as they know. Generally practices are once a week for the younger kids and twice a week for the older. All schedules are done with the coaches to maximize time and availability. Fields are TBD, but local to the Winnacunnet area. Past seasons have been at Governor Weare, WHS, Knowles, North Hampton School, Sacred Heart School.

Games will be on Saturdays (SAYLL) and Sunday’s (NHYLA). Schedules will come out in March and Coaches will distribute as soon as they have them. The season will go through beginning of June for both leagues, with the NHYLA league ending with a Jamboree June 7/8. NOTE: The NHYLA league will play games on the 2 Sundays of April Vacation, and on one Saturday if there is a conflict with Easter.
